Caitriona Dunnett is an Irish artist based in the UK. Her practice explores memory and the traces people leave behind, the paths they weave through time and the legacies attached to them, specifically looking at heritage, land and nature, manifested through alternative photographic processes. Experimentation is at the heart of Dunnett’s practice, with a particular focus on cyanotype, which she tones using natural tannins.
Dunnett has a BA Hons in Photography from Nottingham Trent University and an MFA from Rhode Island School of Design. Recent exhibitions include the Photography Prize, RBSA Gallery; Beyond Silver, with The London Alternative Photography Collective; Flourish Award; Discerning Eye Exhibition; PhotoIreland and Format Festival, a solo show at Galway City Museum, as well as online with Autograph and LensCulture.
Her work has been supported by the Irish and English Arts Councils, the Richard and Siobhán Coward Foundation, Grain Projects and a-n the Artist Information Company. Dunnett’s work was shortlisted for the Flourish and AIS Open, Women Behind the Lens award, highly commended at the Photo Frome Festival and awarded a RBSA Photography Prize. She received Honorable Mentions, from the Julia Margaret Cameron Awards. Her work was published by PhotoIreland and Parthian Books, and featured in Black & White Photography Magazine and online with the Irish Times, Atlas Obscura and Photomonitor.
